# Extending and Editing

**Document type** is your configuration for data extraction of a single type of document, some of which can be changed later on.\
You can edit document types on the [Dashboard page](https://app.typless.com).\
Look for your document type in the list, and click on the ![pen icon](https://typless-public.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/pen.png).

**You can always:**

✅ Add new metadata fields

✅ Add new line item fields

**After creation, you cannot:**

❌ Change OCR engine

❌ Change field names

❌ Change document type name

❌ Delete metadata fields

❌ Delete line item fields
